I love having the opportunity to take something random and turn it into something fun! Bff was going to toss these frames and I saw the possibilities .... these were just empty frames and it took me a while to figure out what to do with them. I was going to put holiday printed paper in them when I remember all those holiday pictures we've been posing for ... They are all different frames and that adds to the eclectic look. I did put pattern paper in the bottom frame, maybe that will be this year's photo?? I am so in love with command strips by 3M!! I used them for all the frames and holiday decor. Enjoy!

Black Friday Blitz
What's the record for Black Friday shopping? I know we set a record! Left the house at 4 am and didn't return until 8 pm!!! Not too shabby! Here was our route...
Kohls
Michaels
Hallmark
McDonalds (to refuel)
Walmart - at this point it had been open a long time and it was trashed! Just wanted the $20 cartridges and they were out!
Target
Hobby Lobby (because they opened sssooo early! an extra hour! So worth the wait tho)
HomeGoods
Bed Bath & Beyond
Ruby Tuesdays (they had just started serving lunch! Most people were just finishing breakfast!)
Dropped off my daughter who couldn't hang with the old folks (she just had to go to work)
Went to another mall where there was a Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Kokopelli, William Sonoma, among a few other smaller stores ...
Not bad! It was actually pretty productive! It truely was ...

Turkey Treats
Remember a few weeks ago when I made my Ghost Bones and used the big marshmallows? I changed it up a bit for Thanksgiving and added peanuts and pistachios and changed it to 'turkey treats'. For some reason I had in my brain to say 'turkey trots' but I think that would definately give the wrong impression. We started our baking yesterday and Ange made some whoopie pies. The recipe only made 6 which is a good thing because they were yummy!!! A batch of pistachio cookies and raisin cookies out of the way. Just trying to figure out the plan for the rest of the meal!
The letters are made with some window cling that I purchased at Michaels a while ago. I didn't know what to do with it at first but it has really come in handy! I may have to pick up some more if I make it there black friday! I can't remember what font I used. When I use the gypsy, the names of cartridges just don't seem as important anymore!

Teacher Gifts
I think my name translated in another language means 'last minute' because it seems I'm always doing things at the last minute! Ange and I were in the kitchen again making these teacher turkey gifts the day before Thanksgiving break! I got this idea from Greenbean's Crafterole and thought it would be neat! We went to AC Moore to get some leaves and they had absolutely NO fall leaves of any sort in the store anywhere! Everything was Christmas! Now what a last minuter to do?!?! We did pick up some ivy and some other small greens and I plucked some colorful ones off the garland it had to make it look more fall. They turned out cute. Ange came up with the little poem and I did the turkey with the Quickutz. WHAT? Yes, the quickutz. Every once in a while I get the antiques out. It was fun but it made me appreciate my little bug even more! We had plenty of soap left so ange made her own designs. The teachers loved them. Whew! Nothing like the last minute! Okay, I am going to be prepared for Christmas, which is what, four weeks away! I can do it!

$20 mysteries
What's up with money these days? Seems like when we get it, we can't keep our hands on! My girlfriend was telling me how the other day when she did a self check out at the grocery store, she forgot to grab her change out of the slot! No honorable citizen turned it in, of course. Today, I had a $20 on the table and my kids (22 &10) decided to fight over it - they both won with half in each of their hands! Bummer! Now I gotta do a 911 on my twenty! Precious $20!! That's a lot of scrap supplies! In my healing, I had to surf a bit and found this AWESOME idea! SOOO doing it for Christmas! Check it out ... it's a spool advent calendar! Just something I made blog

Monday Mojo Masterpiece
Finally finished the card for Monday Mojo #164. I got the latest stamp set Teacher's Pet at My Favorite Things and wanted to get a jump on holiday gift cards. Loved the sketch but LOVE the stamps. It was part of a kit that included a 6x6 paper pack from Crate Paper. The solid cardstock is Bazzill of course. I had fun figuring out the paper piecing for this one so that I could leave her hands it tact! There was a super cute book stamp that I used on the inside of the card and the adorable apple I stamped on the envelope! Enjoy!!!

Cosmo Masterpiece
Update: YEAH!!! These cards were published over at Practical Scrappers! Thanks for picking them Practical gals! Check them out at Practical Scrappers. There is also an awesome video on organizing scraps. I am so doing that!! Enjoy!
I love the Cosmo Cricket line Material Girl!!! The paper is so ADORABLE! I Love it!!! My Aunt had a quilt show a few weeks ago so I used this line to make some cards. For these i used the patterned double sided paper, stickers and added some rub ons.
The double sided paper makes the inside just as fun as the outside!

I completed the 12x12 Step Program!
What an AWESOME weekend! My Scrap Therapy crop is over but I still feel energized by all the creativity! We had close to 60 ladies scrapping together. The hotel was awesome, the food was great, the space was the best ever and all the scrappers were so laid back and easy to please! There was only one minor glitch with the tables but other than that it was perfection. Everyone got therapy of some sort - whether massage therapy or therapy of the liquid kind! I thoroughly enjoy planning and organizing these crops. They give me a chance to make some new friends and rekindle relationships with some wonderful 'existing' (not old) friends. OH yeah, and I actually got some scrapping done! Only four months until the next one!
Retail Therapy . . .

Masterpiece Monday
After a great weekend of shopping, hanging with my fam and my bff I was ready to put my inspiration to the test. I got so inspired at Hobby Lobby I had to create something!!! Here is a masterpiece layout of my masterpiece daughter! This pix was taken over the summer after she got a haircut. Love that smile!!!
Enjoy!!
Enjoy!!
I've been to the Mecca
I've read all over the blogs about Hobby Lobby stores and have added it to my list of stores to visit but the closest one was, WAS, hours away until now!!!! The mecca has opened just a short drive down the beltway. BFF and me had to go on an outing. WHAT an eye opener. Needless to say, we did not get to see everything and are planning on adding it to our Black Friday list!
How to make your Hobby Lobby trip a hit
1 - check the schedule - did not know they were only open until 8 p.m. and closed on Sunday (bummer for us, lucky for the worker bees)
2 - hit the potty first - they are usually in the back corner. We got so excited within the first few aisles we had to make a run for it and wasted a good 15 minutes shopping time!
3 - grab a cart - if you think you're going to just grab a thing or two, your fooling yourself. Plus you don't want your coat or purse slow you down, just throw 'em in the cart and go baby!
4 - check for coupons before you go but even if you don't have any, their sales will have you sweatin!
Had a great time! Can't wait to go back!!

Boo on the Boo
Where is the Halloween spirit in my neighborhood? It's disappeared like a ghost! We did our monsterly deed by ringing and running. Hopefully this week the spirit will be back. Until then ... I'll just have to create my own and live amongst the shadows of the blogs!!!
Sawdust and Paperscraps ... love this idea!

Way to get my boo on!!!

House of Boo
The two over-achieving neighbors that started the 'BOO-ing' moved away since last Halloween so it's up to us to stir the pot! I got a few things at Walmart today but also found a ton of stuff in the basement while cleaning last week. I printed the boo instruction from my favorite blog idol TomKat Studio. Okay, so they're sand buckets but they are halloweenie!!!
The mystery for today ... my husband noticed a free dresser on his posting board at work ... needless to say he is picking it up today! I know nothing about it other than it's kinda medium wood, with nine drawers and it's 5'9" long!!! The other mystery is what am I going to do with it?!?!? I'll post some pix tomorrow and you can help me out!
The masterpiece for today ... can you believe I used my cricut to cut this out? My hub loves these big huge marshmallows and I picked up a fresh bag today. They are huge!!! I used Storybook and Accent Essentials and some cling sheets! Whatcha think?

It's 'FALL' around my house!
Did you ever have one of those days where you wake up and feel like you are just going to scratch everything off your list, even the things you just added? Hop in the shower, have no thought about what to wear, full of energy? Then, while tackling the never ending laundry, you fall down the freakin' stairs? Well, that was my morning, so far. I'm working on my 40 oz (coffee) and my everything bagel and will get myself back on track as soon as I scratch falling down the stairs off my list for today!
My goal is to get my chores done by noonish then work a little in my scrap room ... hope that works out! I have a few things to prep for my upcoming crop (sshhh .. secrets!!) and a few other things I'd like to accomplish in there ... I saw this during my morning run thru the blogs and remembered that I just threw away a fake coffee can this morning! I'm not going to cross stitch it but I'm sure I have some paper to cover it!
Saw it over on Craftblog
Great ... a bird just flew into my window ... NO LIE!!!!!
Whew! Just went to check and it's breathing, just stunned but looked okay. Well now there's something else to add to my list!
EEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!! |
