Mystery:  Do you still get fun mail?

Recieving fun mail sure is a dying trend. Most of us don't even have real mailboxes anymore.  I love it. I remember during my high school summer days, when my mom would work and I'd be home alone, I would stalk the mailman. I never got anything good but it was just the anticipation of maybe I won a contest or got a bunch of albums for a penny (remember those clubs) ... ahh... good times. Grown up mail is not always fun. I do get a little tickle in my tummy when I see an envelope that is hand addressed and card-shaped! I got this little beauty the other day and I was so thrilled! Thank you to my bosom buddy for thinking of me! During our scrap retreat a few weeks ago I treated her to a facial for her birthday. I love how she went out of her way to let me know how she appreciated it. Back at ya buddy! This card made my day and was so perfect for our spa visit. I want to make a vow to bring back the posties of days gone by and keep those mailmen walking the beat! Leave me a comment letting me know when your birthday is and I'll send you a little love via 'snail mail'.

Hey, Happy birthday ... I'm talkin' to you ....

This card was inspired by the Cr84fn (Create For Fun) weekly color challenge.  Here is the color inspiration:

Aren't these fun?  So springy!  Exactly what I need here!  It was still in the 30's walking to the bus stop this morning!  BRR!!!  Can we have a consistent 60 for a few days?  This winter just keeps on dragging!  Here's what I came up with using these colors!  Again, I went picking and found some old pattern paper that had all these colors and more.  I used the Smiley Cards cart for the cake and the quote bubble!  My bestie's baby is going to be freakin' fifteen this week so I'll send it to her!  She's my nemesis so she'll get a kick out of it!  I am loving popping the image from the shadow!  I couldn't find different sized googley eyes either.  I think it needs a ribbon or something along the bottom, what do you think??  Are my pix getting any better?  I'm working on it!  Thanks for checking it out!!!

Site Review Sunday ....

I don't really need to 'review' this 'site because it is awesome and find myself visiting weekly but when I saw these recipes, I had to share!  We all know this week is the end of March :{ where has this month gone?!?!  Can't believe it!  Just reminds me that my quarterly insurance will be due and that will pinch the scrap budget but that's okay, I'll suffer through somehow.  You guys know I don't have any supplies - April foolin' early! Well, if you are into fooling your family, here are some recipes ... I'm going to try the cake with the pizza inside!  I'll let you know how it turns out!

Love ya Taste of Home!

Bundt Cake?

Nope, pizza bake with mozzarella on top!

Crop Success

Ahhh... there are so many reasons I love weekend scrap retreats!  One of which is unearthing things that may have been bought on impulse, with just a fleeting thought then unpacked, put away and left to wonder when it would get used.  This layout is made from one paper pack that fell into that category.  When packing for the weekend I went thru a basket protector full of packs and found one called 'Music' and this lovely was included.  I feel like I'm using something new when I 'shop' before I crop in my own closet!  So much going on with this page there wasn't much to do with it!  I added some small pix on the bottom, exacto'd the edge to slide the picture underneath and made a paper flower for the corner - that was fun!  I tore the layers and sprayed with my buddy's spritz at the crop - thanks Melliss!  I did buy the brad before I went cropping but it was on sale for 99cents!  That's balance!  What do you have hiding in your closet?

Gettin' My Mojo

You guys know I love a good challenge!  I try to keep up with them but it is so hard and there are so many fun ones out there!  I was able to complete one today for Mojo Monday!  Yeah me!  Plus I also used some paper I've been hiding, nay, hoarding, for QUITE a while!  Actually it is an old SEI pack ... remember them?  They had tons of stuff on the market, then went to paper packs and have been kinda quiet for a while ... SEI are you out there?  Can you hear me now?  I miss you SEI with your coordinating paper and buttons and ribbons ... and those cute albums ... but it felt good dusting off the tablet and using a few of the sheets.  I actually made the rabbit for another project and wasn't sure the purple was right so I had to use it somewhere; it's from the Give a Hoot cart then I flocked the top layer - super fuzzy!  I used a dusty ol' Matha punch, Iron Gate maybe, for the border.  It's not an exact match for the sketch because the bunny was bigger than I hoped but it's an interpretation so  I'm going to give this one to my mom for her secret pal card for Easter ...

Birthday Boy

It seems like we are always celebrating something around my house!  Tonight we had the something just not the time to celebrate, sorry honey!  Today was the hubby's b-day and unfortunately I had to substitute at Ang'es school today then she had chorus practice so we went from school to Chic-fil-a, then to the practice.  Didn't get home until 7:30!  I was able to squeak out a gift and card for him... we'll do it up right tomorrow night!

Hope you have a happy day and find time to celebrate!

Visit from a Leprechaun

I'm a little leprechaun
Dressed in green
The tiniest man that you have ever seen.
If you ever catch me,
So it's told,
I'll give to you my pot of gold.

Our little leprechaun friend came for a visit while we were sleeping again last night!  He turned over the foot stools and threw alot of stuff on the floor since Ange tried to catch him in the fairy hut!  He left her some socks and other goodies even though he made a quick get away!

The doll is on the fireplace grate ... kinda looks like it's on the stove!!!  He was a mad little leprechaun!

Sunday 'Site Review

Oh boy ... I found something fun to play with!  It's a little site called Wordle and how fun is that?  You just enter a bunch of words into it and randomly puts the together to make fun little word pillows.  I can so see using this with the Cricut to come up with layouts!!  I created this one using all the cartridge names!  How many can you find!

Bummer it's really small ... check it out here!

Make your own rainbow even on a rainy day!

I saw the recipe for this a few weeks ago and new Ange would love it!  Well, kinda looks better than it tastes.  The recipe added 1/2 tbsp of unflavored gelatin to the flavored mix and only used 1 cup of water.  The layers had the texture of gummy snacks, really chewy.  The white layer in between is a mix sweetened/condensed milk, water, gelatin and vanilla.  I had to make the whole batch ahead of time so by the time I got to the last layer is was really gelled!  I also had green and blue to use but ran out of room ... cute though!  Might make it again without the white layer in between.  Whatcha think?

Happy March!

I can't believe it's freakin' March!!!  I have been planning a weekend crop since November and it's now only a week away!  AHH!!!  I am sooo excited!  I know you all would just love to come along but don't worry, I will have some contests for you to play too!  Of course, with contests come prizes!!!  More on that later in the week!
I just had a few minutes to whip up a quick card.  I cut out the cute scallop card on the Cricut the cut the corresponding circles.   The stamped sentiment did turn out a little darker than it looks in the pix, it's from Unity!  I used the Girly paper pack from My Minds Eye.  LOVE IT!!  I have used it sooo often!   It fit so well with the color inspiration challenge from The Playdate Cafe.  Whatcha think? I had fun working with the pattern paper and my Gypsy.  Maybe I'll have to do a tutorial for you guys on that!  The ol' wheels are turning and the smoke is flying!  Stay tuned ...
