What else did I do in my absence?  I read a book!  I KNOW!!  I couldn't believe it either!  But I read an actual book pages and everything!  All in about a week!  Loved it!!  I've read all her books and watch her every night that I can stay awake long enough!

I babysat my son's puppy Riley ... She's a blue marl chicha-hooha

Yeah!  My garden started to grow ...

My daughter had a girl scout bridging event.  She went from Juniors to Cadettes.  My older daughter is the troop leader!  It's very special.  The troop is such a great group of girls!

Oh yeah, Ange fell walking home from the bus stop and busted both of her knees, the day before the dance recital.  90% of her dance was on her knees. She survived and didn't complain!  Love her!   But had to sneak and take this pix while she wasn't looking ... starting to get the  'oh mom' eye roll when I whip my camera out.

#2 on the summer to do list is to re paint the family room which includes a rearrange, paint the shelving unit and come up with a bench for extra seating.   All that just to paint the room!  I picked up this coffee table at Good Will for $10!  I thought it was perfect with shaker detail then when I was carrying it in, I realized the spindles were only on the one side!  Bummer but can live with it!  It was a bit too wide so hub cut it down!  Next step is to paint and make a cushion.

And I made a summer wall hanging for the living room.  Still have to add some fluff to summer-fy the room but this is definitely a good start.  I can feel the breeze already!  Gotta get rid of those plaid pillows now!

Okee dokee.  That brings me up to mid June!  Whew, tired all over again!

My Addiction

So what else was I doing during my 'absence'?  I've become addicted ... to Pinterest!  I'll admit it, I used to pour thru magazines and tear out ideas and pix of projects I'd like to do.  I collected a ton of pictures, enough to fill a huge ring binder.  I thought of it as my badge of honor ... and guess how much I referred to it ... that's right - never!  Thanks to the invention of the 'enternet' (as my daughter once spelled it) I go googling before I flip a page.  So I ditched the collection of outdated how-to's and guess what, I've also stopped buying magazines!  I became a member of Pinterest and pin ideas I see!  It's awesome and more organized than my hefty binder!  I'm still quite a novice but if you follow me you'll see updates of my pins.

Where has this month gone!

I can't believe it's been a month since I've blogged.  I've been missing you, oh blogger, but life has gotten in the way!  I wish I could say I've been unplugged for a month but that's not true.  I've had about 10 minutes a day to check emails but no time to actually sit and read or write blogs.  Well, what have I been up to that has kept me away?  So many different things I don't want to overwhelm you with a long post.  I'll start from the beginning of my neglect for the blog.  I have been taking pictures so blog buddies, you have not been far from my thoughts.
You might remember we had our kitchen remodeled in September and we've been waiting to find the 'perfect' backsplash.  In a wife's terms - I've been waiting for hubby to see things my way so it looks like he picked what I wanted.  Again, life, holidays, etc took priority and the backsplash was neglected.  Looks like it's pattern, maybe I need to see somebody?!?!  After hanging my daughter's Easter Bunny picture over the sink for Easter dinner, hub decided it was time.  I got the 'go buy whatever you want, I dont' care' speech.  I had my heart set on glass but in all honesty I don't think it would really match the style of the house, too contemporary.  I got a 4x4 stone that my bff actually saw.  After I brought it all home, it only two more weeks to figure out 'how' to do it.  Debating on paying a professional or doing it ourselves, we finally rolled up our sleeves and jumped in the 'mud'.  It was a long process that took all of Memorial Day weekend and then some.  Dear hub is a perfectionist so cutting around all the molding and trim was time consuming.  Let's just say 'my show has been cancelled' and I was downgraded to lifting the lid of mud.  Here's a before,  and after ... the finale!

Before - bulkhead, peninsula, wallpaper, blue tile backsplash, linoleum

After - replaced peninsula storage with upper and lower lazy suzys in the corner; removed buklhead and replaced with taller cabinets and molding, moved the sink over, new floor, recessed lights, red painted walls

The glass tile over the stove

deco over the sink ... this was a pain!  I preplanned all the pieces and laid out the pattern but forgot about the light switch, etc.  Had to redo it a couple of times ... not in love with the outlet covers but no exposed wiring is always a plus.  Love my big huge sink, doesn't show here but I bumped it out and curved the counter to make  it look like a piece of furniture.

Okay, so about 80 into the tile work, grouting and sealing and my little fingers didn't want to see the keyboard.  Am I excused?  I'll fill you on the rest of the happenings in another episode of  "where has the time gone" ... dum dum da dummmmm .....
