Where has this month gone!

I can't believe it's been a month since I've blogged.  I've been missing you, oh blogger, but life has gotten in the way!  I wish I could say I've been unplugged for a month but that's not true.  I've had about 10 minutes a day to check emails but no time to actually sit and read or write blogs.  Well, what have I been up to that has kept me away?  So many different things I don't want to overwhelm you with a long post.  I'll start from the beginning of my neglect for the blog.  I have been taking pictures so blog buddies, you have not been far from my thoughts.
You might remember we had our kitchen remodeled in September and we've been waiting to find the 'perfect' backsplash.  In a wife's terms - I've been waiting for hubby to see things my way so it looks like he picked what I wanted.  Again, life, holidays, etc took priority and the backsplash was neglected.  Looks like it's pattern, maybe I need to see somebody?!?!  After hanging my daughter's Easter Bunny picture over the sink for Easter dinner, hub decided it was time.  I got the 'go buy whatever you want, I dont' care' speech.  I had my heart set on glass but in all honesty I don't think it would really match the style of the house, too contemporary.  I got a 4x4 stone that my bff actually saw.  After I brought it all home, it only two more weeks to figure out 'how' to do it.  Debating on paying a professional or doing it ourselves, we finally rolled up our sleeves and jumped in the 'mud'.  It was a long process that took all of Memorial Day weekend and then some.  Dear hub is a perfectionist so cutting around all the molding and trim was time consuming.  Let's just say 'my show has been cancelled' and I was downgraded to lifting the lid of mud.  Here's a before,  and after ... the finale!

Before - bulkhead, peninsula, wallpaper, blue tile backsplash, linoleum

After - replaced peninsula storage with upper and lower lazy suzys in the corner; removed buklhead and replaced with taller cabinets and molding, moved the sink over, new floor, recessed lights, red painted walls

The glass tile over the stove

deco over the sink ... this was a pain!  I preplanned all the pieces and laid out the pattern but forgot about the light switch, etc.  Had to redo it a couple of times ... not in love with the outlet covers but no exposed wiring is always a plus.  Love my big huge sink, doesn't show here but I bumped it out and curved the counter to make  it look like a piece of furniture.

Okay, so about 80 into the tile work, grouting and sealing and my little fingers didn't want to see the keyboard.  Am I excused?  I'll fill you on the rest of the happenings in another episode of  "where has the time gone" ... dum dum da dummmmm .....
